Southampton 0 Leicester 5: Ten-man Saints stunned as Chilwell, Perez, Vardy and Tielemans net in first-half blitz.
FRIDAY night football comes from the South Coast as Southampton welcome Leicester to St Mary’s.
The Foxes are flying so far this season and come into this one occupying third place, whilst the hosts are winless in four Premier League games.
Leicester City can go second in the Premier League with a win over challenging Southampton at St. Mary’s on Friday.
The Foxes’ 17 points are good enough for third in the league, and Brendan Rodgers would love to put a little more pressure on his Top Four rivals with a win away to Saints.
Leicester City fans mock Southampton with cruel chant during St Mary’s thrashing
With Brendan Rodgers’ side running riot at St Mary’s, the Blue Army have been quick to remind Saint boss Ralph Hasenhuttl that his job may be in jeopardy.
Leicester City fans are in dreamland.
City went 3-0 up after just 19 minutes in the Premier League clash with Southampton at St Mary’s tonight.
Goals from Ben Chilwell, Youri Tielemans and Ayoze Perez sent City flying into the lead against their shellshocked opponents.
To compound Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl’s woes, left-back Ryan Bertrand was sent off after Chilwell’s goal for a poor challenge on Perez.
And to add further insult to injury, Perez added another shortly before half-time.
Southampton are yet to win at home and that doesn’t look like changing anytime soon.
They have lost three of their four home matches this season, drawing one with Manchester United in August to pick up their solitary point on home soil this season.
And the City fans cheekily reminded Hasenhuttl, whose Saints side sit third from bottom with eight points after nine matches, that his job could well be in jeopardy after tonight’s game.
“You’re getting sacked in the morning,” the Blue Army chanted once they had finished cheering Perez’s strike.
Never a good sign.
